Backing up your data is always a good policy. 3DEXPERIENCE includes cloud-based file storage already, but if you want to create an on-site backup then keep reading. For exporting an individual project, we recommend you export all data as a package. But what if you want to back up ALL of your data? Here is how:
1. Use the Bookmark Editor app to create a new bookmark for the export.
Choose an intuitive name for the bookmark, such as “export all data”. Leave Bookmark Editor open with the new bookmark selected, in preparation for a later step.
Creating the bookmark
2. Search for “prd”. This should report all files because they all include “prd” in their name:

3. Optional: filter using 6W tags. 6W stands for Who, What, Where, etc.

4. Select all by putting a tick in the box shown below.
Check the counter that confirms how many selected out of how many results. Ideally the numbers should match. If they don’t, try scrolling down the list to the bottom, and then re-select all.
Selecting all
- Drag the selected items to the bookmark that was created in the earlier step:
- left-mouse-click on the blue of the selected items, and start dragging
- the drag operation should trigger a switch back to Bookmark Editor. Drop the items there.
- Bookmark Editor applies the bookmark to all dragged items. The more items, the longer it will take to apply the bookmark, so you may need to wait a moment.
- In Bookmark Editor, group-select files for the first batch to be exported. To select all items, select one of them and press Ctrl+A. To select some items, you can use Shift+select or Ctrl+select.
- Click the 3 dots in the upper right and choose Export As
Exporting the items
5. Give the export an intuitive title and optionally set it to Include Drawing.
-
- Note the count of included items (in green). If this count is less than the number of items that were dragged into Bookmark Editor, then try scrolling all the way down in Bookmark Editor until you cannot scroll down any further. This should update the list completely. Try again to Export As
Note any excluded items (in red) which may require further attention to troubleshoot. To identify which ones are excluded, click the exclusion counter for a complete list of which are included and which are excluded. To begin troubleshooting, try again to export with one of the excluded items, and inspect the error message. If unable to resolve based on the information in the error message, contact your 3DEXPERIENCE reseller for technical support.
Making settings for export
6. A job is created and processed. Its status can be viewed in the app CAD Data Processor Monitoring.
Monitoring export job status using CAD Data Processor Monitoring app
7. When the job is completed, a notification appears (in the 3DNotification Center) stating that the job is complete and to click to download.
Notification that export is complete. Click to download.
8. Download the resulting zip file
We recommend testing on a small file set before moving on to larger sets.
