How to Set Up Print Configurations for DraftSight

Whether you place a View Port to Model space where your work and title block is or you are placing the desired title block on a Layout Tab, you may notice that the white paper space of the layout is not the same size as your title block. This can affect the output of printing. To remedy this, create a Print Configuration to apply to your files. Creating Drawing templates will also allow the file to automatically use this Print Configuration.

Below I provide the steps to creating a print configuration for DraftSight to use with an already created title block placed on the Layout.

Creating your Print Configuration in DraftSight

Right-click on the Layout tab and select Print Configuration Manager…

In the Print Configuration Manager, select +New and base it off the Default if you don’t have any previously created.

Select PDF as the Printer Name, this is a Built-in Printer option for creating PDFs within DraftSight. Choose the appropriate size of sheet and choose any other setting you would like to add to the Print Configuration. For this example, I want my sheet to print to scale, so I chose 1:1 and I want only the Sheet area to print. If you wish to configure the PrintStyle, you can find the steps in Using PrintStyle Tables in DraftSight

Save your Print Configuration in a desired location that you and any other users can access.

~

I suggest saving this to a Network or local drive outside of the typical DraftSight default folders, if a reset or uninstall is needed with your DraftSight, these templates would be lost.

Once it is saved, ensure to Activate it.

Then Save As a Drawing Template (*.dwt)

One last step. Ensure your System Options for Print Style File Location is pointed to the location where this template file is saved.
